Terrific brother and sister

20 years of my life, never have I actually thought that Esther is my best best best 'bestest' friend ever.

A best friend that feeds me since birth:

A best friend that carries me even when I'm too heavy for her:

A best friend that tells me to leave my worries behind, in this case THE PACIFIER!
Just... to snap a picture and make memories:

A best friend who shares her toys with me:

A best friend who hangs out and plays with me:

A best friend who loves me even when I look terrible:

A best friend who holds my hand and walks with me:

A best friend who wears the same t-shirt with me:

A best friend who poses like a boss:

And then 12 years ago, another came in to join the best friend club. Derrick!

My brother, eventhough he's the youngest, but he is a genius. His advices are sometimes so practical and cun! He also prays like a warrior. I'm so glad that I'm his sister. Esther is always Esther. I can't beat her in any of our arguments. Her brains are full of facts. That confirms her profession. But her facts are the ones that actually make most sense to help me see a different view.

I love them to bits. I really do.

I will always look up to my sister:

She was also the first person who taught me how to "roll" chords on piano:

Hard work and hard to do work

The difference between hard work and hard to do work.
A friend from college posted an article he found in a blog. It's about a research done to compare how elite players and average players carry out their daily lives- that includes practice time! For full reading, click here.
So I pluck out a section of it which is really interesting.

... that there’s a difference between hard work and hard to do work:
  • Hard work is deliberate practice. It’s not fun while you’re doing it, but you don’t have to do too much of it in any one day (the elite players spent, on average, 3.5 hours per day engaged in deliberate practice, broken into two sessions). It also provides you measurable progress in a skill, which generates a strong sense of contentment and motivation. Therefore, although hard work is hard, it’s not draining and it can fit nicely into a relaxed and enjoyable day.
  • Hard to do work, by contrast, is draining. It has you running around all day in a state of false busyness that leaves you, like the average players from the Berlin study, feeling tired and stressed. It also, as we just learned, has very little to do with real accomplishment.
This analysis leads to an important conclusion. Whether you’re a student or well along in your career, if your goal is to build a remarkable life, then busyness and exhaustion should be your enemy. If you’re chronically stressed and up late working, you’re doing something wrong. You’re the average players from the Universität der Künste — not the elite. You’ve built a life around hard to do work, not hard work.
The solution suggested by this research, as well as my own, is as simple as it is startling: Do less. But do what you do with complete and hard focus. Then when you’re done be done, and go enjoy the rest of the day.

So, always remain calm and don't get ourselves busy unnecessarily, doing unnecessary work and stressed out at the end of the day (worse, it's not even the end of the day yet and we're already sweating heavily). Have enough sleep and... practice!! Like consistently, even if we don't see the results yet. When practicing, practice well, even though it's a (boring) technical exercise, well at least try to make it fun (that's what I always tell myself hahah). I like the conclusion : "Do less. But do what you do with complete and hard focus. Then when you're done be done, and go enjoy the rest of the day. "
And yes, after practice, it will generate a strong sense of contentment and motivation.

The Cockroach Theory

At a restaurant, a cockroach suddenly flew from somewhere and sat on
a lady. She started screaming out of fear. With a panic stricken
face and trembling voice, she started jumping, with both her hands
desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach.

Her reaction was contagious, as everyone in her group also got
panicky.

The lady finally managed to push the cockroach away but ...it landed
on another lady in the group.

Now, it was the turn of the other lady in the group to continue the
drama.

The waiter rushed forward to their rescue.
In the relay of throwing, the cockroach next fell upon the waiter.

The waiter stood firm, composed himself and observed the behavior of
the cockroach on his shirt.
When he was confident enough, he grabbed it with his fingers and
threw it out of the restaurant.

Sipping my coffee and watching the amusement, the antenna of my mind
picked up a few thoughts and started wondering, was the cockroach
responsible for their histrionic behavior?
If so, then why was the waiter not disturbed?
He handled it near to perfection, without any chaos.

It is not the cockroach, but the inability of the ladies to handle
the disturbance caused by the cockroach that disturbed the ladies.

I realized that, it is not the shouting of my father or my boss or
my wife that disturbs me, but it's my inability to handle the
disturbances caused by their shouting that disturbs me.

It's not the traffic jams on the road that disturbs me, but my
inability to handle the disturbance caused by the traffic jam that
disturbs me.

More than the problem, it's my reaction to the problem that creates
chaos in my life.

Lessons learnt from the story:
I understood, I should not react in life.
I should always respond.
The women reacted, whereas the waiter responded.

Reactions are always instinctive whereas responses are always well
thought of, just and right to save a situation from going out of
hands, to avoid cracks in relationship, to avoid taking decisions in
anger, anxiety, stress or hurry.

Have a nice day.

I found this on FB and now my writing font is of that from FB hahah! :D

Transition

"If we desire different results, we need to do things differently," -Aunty Jo's email.

We face with changes, like it or not, we have to. Changes and transitions are meant for us to mature and go on onto higher ground.

Season = a time period, one place to the next.

Transitions between seasons is a difficult time. We may get lost. To know our purpose is very important. The new is greater than the old, no matter how great the old is.

So what do we do when we're going through with the transitions? Or at least, we're aware of that it is a transition.

Rise from our sleep and make a decision. When convictions come, we must make a decision. Open up our hearts for the spirit of God and agree with the word of God. Then, fruitfulness will yield. Make that decision so that changes for the new season can come.

Keep our lights on- live life of holiness. Those lights in our lives will cause contradiction and conflict with the world. But don't compromise and feel bad when rejections happen. When serving, serve God not by works, but by His grace.

Stand firm on the ground, even when the wind is blowing our feet off. Don't turn back, don't give up. Put our hope in God. Change is hard, but it is for the better.

Be bold and courageous. Pray as often because praying is fellowshipping with God. In prayers, God will talk to you and reveal you things. Pray continuously, it's an on going conversation on all occasion. So that our minds are focused on Him.

Just combining a few of the Sunday messages and summarizing them (not the full version of course). I'm afraid that I'll lose the notes. Most importantly when I'm in Boston I can refer it right here.

PS: Message by pastors, given from God and HS as they spend time asking what to speak to the church. It's not my own word I do not take credits for this. I'm really blessed with the Sunday messages.

Know it in your heart, and you'll see

Every life is challenging. To live is already a challenge.

It is the tough moments that actually cause us to be dependent on God. It is those overwhelming times that actually level-up our faith.

Receive those challenges and 'bombs' in life like a warrior. The Word there says that we are victorious because of Jesus. He overcame death when no one else could.

I feel like giving up when the mountains are becoming more and more 'steep' to climb. So hard! Settle for second best! After all, it's still one of the best. No! I don't want regrets in the later years. No. I want to make sure God's promise fulfilled in me. He said that His words won't go out and come back empty to me, and He'll bring it to past. He said that He will finish what He has started in me. He also said that He will deliver me, and let me see miracles too, and that He is who He is. He said that He'll never leave me half way. He will help the helpless to fight.

Many times I took what He said in into my mind, but have not 'downloaded' and 'installed' those into my heart. The heart is where determination, devotion, dedication, discipline, perseverance and endurance flow out. The heart is the one that decides a person's character and relationship with God. So read, read and read His words in the Bible again and again, make sure I understand them whole heartedly. Hold on to the Word. Think about them all the time. Occupy my mind with the words for they contain inspiration, power and peace to help in daily challenges and making decisions.

Don't give up! Just keep going. When the wind is about to blow off our feet from the ground, when the rain is getting more and more heavy, pushing us behind and stopping us from going ahead, keep pushing forward, keep going. God is the anchor.

Sighs, easy to say. Now lets make it real. And... Action!

I ate so much that I couldn't sleep now.
The cook at my gig just now was so busy that he had to settle the customers first. Pianist later. So I happily packed my food home.

So ah...

Live.Laugh.Learn.Love is NOT my personal journal.

A personal diary looks like this here :

Steamboat Rain Away!

Here's a quick short testimony :

My family went and have dinner at Puchong's Coco Steamboat. Half way eating, we felt rain droplets tapping on our skins. Customers began to panic. I was a little too. And my sister told God to stop the rain because we just started our steamboat galloreee! In other words, she prayed. out. loud. lah. haha. while busy using the chopsticks for food. Dad too, he kept praying. And so we decided to stay put and not "evacuate" ourselves to a "safer" corner. We ate like we were under normal clear night sky and simply enjoyed our dinner. We know God can stop the rain. If He has parted the red sea, what is rain man?

Believe. And it will happen.

God held the rain throughout our dinner.

Simple action like that can bring blessings to everyone. Be a blessing!

He is who He is

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

Even a friend from Korea sent me the same verse that God has been placing in my heart for this whole week. Was thrilled when I received his email and know that God is keeping His promise.

Our God is Greater

Great things are happening, so much that I learn to hope and hope and believe and pray and increase my faith. Things that I learnt from last week really woke me up from my character blur-ness and spiritual sleepiness. I'm 20 and I'm growing up. Thank God for His grace, mercy, faithfulness and big love for me even when I didn't do a good job.

God works all things together for our good and His glory. Amen to that.

Why are the Israelites so confident in everything they do? Like they know that they will prosper in their work, business, health and family? And people said they seem so stuck-up. But, really, they are not. That's because they know who their God is and who they are, their identity, their inheritance, as co-heirs with Christ (This truth is all in that Book). And they take charge of what's here on earth, their rights here as members from the kingdom of God.

It's so interesting when we know that we can't do things that are impossible for us, God can help and move things until they are possible. Provided if it's His will lah ;) Even if we think we've got it handled well, well God can help us do better!

Why, you little...

Dang man. That awful feeling when you see your friend posting up something on fb or twitter and you go like : I shouldn't have known that piece of information and now I feel bad.

It's funny how your day was going so well and niceee... until that piece of information turn the rainbow up side down.

Social networks, I get annoyed with you sometimes.

Many times I felt like deleting them. But I have to stay connected for other purpose. And these things just pop out like popcorns and caused me to READ and it triggers my sensory systems, worse, the emotional side of me.

Okay, so what's the best remedy?

I don't knowwwwwww! Just suck it up, perhaps?

Food, Family and Love

I can always feel the love from my parents when they cook for the three of us, and the whole family. Be it waffles for breakfast, congee for lunch or simple 3-4 Chinese dinner dishes, or mom's curry puffs and cupcakes for tea. My family loves food. Food brings the family together. Food brings people together.

Bible study with the HS

Jesus Raises Lazarus From Death
38 Again feeling very upset, Jesus came to the tomb. It was a cave with a large stone covering the entrance.39 He said, “Move the stone away.”
Martha said, “But, Lord, it has been four days since Lazarus died. There will be a bad smell.” Martha was the sister of the dead man.
40 Then Jesus said to her, “Remember what I told you? I said that if you believed, you would see God’s divine greatness.”
41 So they moved the stone away from the entrance. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you heard me. 42 I know that you always hear me. But I said these things because of the people here around me. I want them to believe that you sent me.” 43 After Jesus said this he called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” 44 The dead man came out. His hands and feet were wrapped with pieces of cloth. He had a handkerchief covering his face.
Jesus said to the people, “Take off the cloth and let him go.”

East-to-Read-Version
- John 11 : 38-44

Lazarus coming back to life is a miracle. Before the miracle happened, Jesus gave thanks to the Father. After giving thanks, then the miracle happened.

Give thanks in all situation, whatever the situation is.Thank Him with our hearts. Miracles will happen. If you believe, you would see God's divine greatness (v40).

When there's doubt, declare and proclaim God's goodness in our lives, in our situation. Faith as tiny mini mustard seed can. move. MOUNTAINS!!

Bible study with the HS this afternoon.

PS: Some miracles happened instantly, some according to God's timing.
Different people, different encounters.
As for this, it's for me and those who can relate this with me.

Israel Houghton and his heart

Everyone has their own life testimonies. This man, has inspired me. Just read his life story here http://www.cbn.com/cbnmusic/interviews/700club_IsraelHoughton_041205.aspx

His songs are a legacy. We sing his songs almost on every Sunday morning service. So I decided to google him up and watch some of his worship sessions on youtube. His song arrangements are superb, but his heart and love for people and God are more than anything else.

And my friend encouraged me with one of his songs, that God provides and it is abundantly, more than enough. (My ears are so tune in to the pianist :) )

Reward

God will bless the work of His children's hands.
So, work!
Don't be lazy, and don't take for granted.

After that, commit every outcome into His hand.
The colours of the light (green, red or yellow) in your situation depends on Him.
Go! And we go.
Stop! We better not go this way.
Wait! We wait and we pray. (That's the BEST time to pray!)

Whatever the outcomes and results are, because we have already entrusted God to take care and provide, He IS doing it. Ask and BELIEVE. It's a done deal.

Being God's child is so wonderful. We can walk boldly and stand tall in storms, in rain, whatever the 'weather' is, and we know we have the victory. Christ, is the victory. There, we find HOPE, love and peace.

Hope

Just a small town girl.
Just a small heart for God.
But by God's grace and big love, He is showing me what He can do by bringing people to me.

I received a huge blow this week that I almost couldn't make it to Berklee due to financial issues. Immediately, my mind was working hard in search for alternatives like... teaching English in Korea and learn the Korean language and culture, and perhaps take up courses on wedding and events planning. These are my second best that I can ever come up with, and I would think that I'm gonna enjoy them.

But deep down, my love for music burns and I long to be a film scorer. However, at the back of my mind, logic thinking took over me and threw me a conversation, saying : "Do I really want my dad to invest so much in this education? After all it's just a cert, a degree. But I long for the exposure and experience studying in an elite college, Berklee, like the Harvard for all law students. But lets come back to reality, the film industry has high competitors and maybe I'll just give up trying. After all, this industry is dominated by men. Is it worth the money?" I even looked for other colleges who offer film scoring program, but they also cost a lot.

Nevertheless, I was stubborn enough not to give up my hope on God. Holding onto God is the only thing I can do, only hope left for me to cling on. I didn't know what else to do! This is because I believe that in times like this, He wouldn't abandon me. He is real and He CAN do miracles.

To be sure of what I should do, I seek for confirmation by asking God to give me His peace. That peace, indescribable one, immediately gripped me with steadiness, despite what the present looks like. Now is the time to put faith into action. Now is the time I'm gonna witness a financial miracle in my education. Of course, I also applied for scholarships, not sitting down and just pray. There's always the balance in doing something. Pray and take action. Commit all these things into God's hand, sit back, watch and be in awe of what He can do.

I believe that what had happened this week is also to remind me that going to Berklee is by God's grace too. It taught me to appreciate and value this opportunity.

Family (Part Two)

This is also my family!
On Valentine's Day, I spent my time with my Singaporean family, my family and then headed back to Malaysia that evening for Thursday practice at church.
So, all in all I got to chill with ALL my loved ones- the Singaporeans, my family, HIS church, including JC :D

Mei Mei in Cheong Sam! Adeline is like the cutest baby everr!
Elise is as cool as the bass. Better don't mess with her hahah!
Hope is like... the dai ga jie of all the boys. You don't mess with her also :P
That's Noah, her brother behind.
This CNY celebration, I got the honour to play for Mr.Greg Yoon, renown Korean tenor vocalist. Man, his testimony is so heart warming.
Never in my wildest dream I dreamt of playing with an international artist and this, glory definitely goes to God.
Without His help, I wouldn't be able to finish practicing 6 songs in a day before the performances at HIS Church and I-City.

HIS Church brothers and sisters in Christ has taught me so much especially to think more of others and less of myself, to encourage each other with words, text messages, whatsapp, cards, and whatever not you could think of ways, creative ones to appreciate each other. In other words, to LOVE unconditionally. I've learnt also to pray in the spirit together. And of course, in and out, there are many other things I've picked up along the way learning from each other.

I also remember my two old buddies, Angel and Addison, taught me to be a better person too when I was with them. They showed me how to be truthful to myself, to love a person despite what he/she is and humility.

Grateful, really, for all these people whom I call them friends, bro and sis.

This love month of February made me realized how much I treasure them in my heart.

Family (part one)

My Ayi sent me and my sister this on whatsapp :D

CNY season and the lovey dovey Valentine's Day have come to past. Well, almost, for the CNY season. We have a total of 15 days to celebrate this Chinese Lunar New Year every year.

Every year is a better year. Ain't it?

I noticed this year's celebration is a little different. What made me super contented and happy is that I actually spent all my time with ALL my loved ones. This is only part one.

The Singaporeans whom I dearly love most.

Monkey faces

Dillon : My bubblegum, finally!

You gota' love these three adorable musketeers :P
The long awaited baby prince Wafrie

Later, we left for Singapore with the Singaporeans on a spontaneous, last minute trip.

Sooo windy !

And of course, the crazy hours and hours of watching Hong Kong dramas, series and movies.

Gold

Sunday 4pm is the best time for a person to write. Especially, when it's after a rainy weather. I can hear the insects cooling off, washing machine going on at the back of my house, my sister helping bro with some solutions, mom and dad outside working in the garden. So, I write now.

This morning service at HIS Church was a personal one today. Everyone gave their hearts and lives once again for kingdom work- God's. Encouraged, really, by the response of the congregation. That special moment (well at least, to me), I know that I'm not alone walking on this path. I chose that. So did the lady who sat beside (beside, beside, and more beside :P) me, and those youngsters in front of me.

I've been self centered many times. Always asking God to do this for ME, do that for ME, everything is about me, me and ME; helping me. It's selfish of me not to share with people about how real this God is, the burden of serving Him is light, about His grace and salvation and how big, loving, caring, faithful and so so loving most of all, even when I made mistakes and screwed things up, He does not give up on me. He fixes things! All things are possible with God.

This God is too big for us to fit Him inside a box.

Geddit? :D

If I think about something so impossible, it's possible for Him; If I think that it's a dead end, He'll get me out of there; If I think that this is all I have right now, oh yeah, bet sure that He's gonna give me MORE than enough! He gives abundantly! How do I know about all these things? It happened 2000 years ago, which was recorded in a book. That book contains 66 books in it, divided into two main sections, both awesome and inspiring stories in it. It's a treasure.

I look forward to the day, when He comes back to get me out of here, and bring me along to where He lives, where He has prepared a mansion for me, far more magnificent home than I can imagine with my physical mind. And I stay in a neighbourhood with all my brothers and sisters in Christ who gave their hearts and lives and live for the One in this temporary world. No riches of this world can compare with that of in Heaven. Now, when I hold on to this dream, even when you think that I'm crazily insane with this impossible and non sensible dream, look up in that book, it's real, and holding on to this dream is the ultimate of the ultimate one for me. It's just that we can't see it now, doesn't mean that it's not real. Just like we don't see the wind, doesn't mean that it does not exist.

How incredible it is for the new time to come.

Why did I make up my mind to trust this God, gave Him my heart and life? Was it because He was the God of my family? Was it because I was born in a Christian family? Was it because I had to because my parents said so?

Experiences with Him have changed me. From there, I know that a God SO REAL, loving and true is there looking after me. I can freely depend on Him with my needs, to love and be loved unconditionally.

Why should I trust Him? People robbed my dreams, hopes and eventually trust, and filled me with disappointment along the way, as I grow up. A person is different 10 years ago- His thinking, maturity, behaviour whatever not. Today, he's another person. I bet in 10 years time, he's another man. But God is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever and ever even after I die here. So whyy SHOULDN'T I trust Him? Why shouldn't I believe that He's a great person, a trustworthy friend, a loving father, a Protector, a Provider and all the awesome characters we name and nobody else is like Him, who is faithful and just? He is who He is. Nobody can change Him.

And to think that He has redeemed my soul, of what He did for me, the significant of that cross, totally saved my life, no one can do that but only the Son of God.

Life is never the same again, pointless, aimless and indecisive when I decided to serve and honour Him. I only have ONE time to live (not like fluffy cats with 9 lives :P).

Live not just for myself, but to tell others about my life testimonies, how God guided me, talk to me and love me even when I'm so unworthy. Life will never be the same again because I've found the purpose and meaning of it when I opened up myself to Jesus. There's more to look forward to than here, the temporary riches on Earth. There's more, there's MORE! :D Dig deeper, dig into the right place and there we'll find gold and wealth far more than the weight of it in this world.

Get set

A new beginning : Where the worries of my past will be forgotten.
When it comes, I wanna be ready.

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Got it

I always thought to myself this : Do the mistakes I've made slow down God's plan for me? Instead of it should be happening at this timing, my fault has caused it to be delayed?

No. Everything happens for a reason. Even my mistakes. God knows already. And He has made plans about it. Everything is in His good and loving hand.

Omgaaah :) Brilliant.

A Glum Evening

"I'll lock you out of the house."
"Go away!"
"I don't want you!"
"Go away!!"
"I don't like you...!"

Words like these came out from a parent to his son. I overheard him in my neighborhood (Noo I'm not a stalker, just, overheard). Yess, I kinda agree that the son is a little mischievous because he's this annoying alarm clock early in the morning, screaming and yeah, literally screaming at the top of his lungs for nothing. And that... woke me up.

But, I believe that no matter how badly behaved a child is, never EVER use words like that.
Words are powerful. It's even more deteriorating if the child's love language is by words of affirmation.

The child was speechless. In the end, he said back to his dad :"Dee! I don't like you!"

:'( what a glum conversation. I shouldn't have eavesdropped.

Little Things

10 Whoever can be trusted with small things can also be trusted with big things. Whoever is dishonest in little things will be dishonest in big things too.

Luke 16:10

Start by doing small things to honor God. God sees the heart. Don't fret about when the big things are coming. They will come.

:)

Everyday is a gift from God. Spend the day wisely.

Thinking About You - David Choi [ Lyrics ]

Thinking About You Lyrics
By: David Choi

Everybody needs someone
Everybody needs love, love
Everybody wants something to believe in

Everybody is waiting
Waiting for that someone
That makes their heart jump out

Live a life like you are dreaming, yeah
Oh, I want that feeling

I'm thinking about you
Are you thinking of me too?
I'm thinking about you
I hope you're thinking of me too

Looking for a treasure
Worth more than gold
It's been found, I've been told

But I've been searching
Across the seas
Oh could it be right in front of me?

For now I'll entertain this daydream
I wonder what you're feeling

I'm thinking about you
Are you thinking of me too?
I'm thinking about you
I hope you're thinking of me too

Nigel Tay - Song of Spring (Original)

Song of Spring©
Written by Nigel Tay, Nicole Shin and David Moran

What's that sound,
I hear it all around
Looks like the birds are chirping
And the bees are buzzing
In this beautiful town

If you're feeling it too
Go on take of your shoes
Put your feet in the grass
Hope the moment will last
I'm sticking with you

Uh-oh, Uh-oh,
It's a beautiful day out, to walk tall and proud
So sing to the song of your heart that set you apart
Uh-oh, Uh-oh,
We can sing on forever, with every tune louder

So take my hand come along with me,
the breeze and trees are working perfectly to find the place in your mind
Don't keep them waiting, the boat is sailing
I hope you embrace the beautiful, I hope you embrace the beautiful

If not then all would be a wasted

OH anyway,
let's get back to our story..
Soaking up the sun,
oh all the fun,
Certainly not folly

Listen To Me, Clara C! (Playlist)

This is one of her old videos. Heheh. (I think her vids have changed because it's a playlist hhahah!)
(It's supposed to be her singing a song to her siblings)
I hope to meet her one day.
Missed her on that day she came down to KL, but Esther got to see her show and my sister bought her album.
Inside, she wrote a song named "Daphne", obviously it's for her friend who has the same name with me hahaha :D
I love her instrumentation combination variety in all her songs.
The ART in my heART.
