Spring Break

First break ever without the need to travel! Pretty happy about it. Managed to catch up some sleep vacation.
Maybe I've missed out going to New York or Maine or the Niagara Falls this time like all my friends where they are right now. Hopefully there'll come a time I'll travel with my friends again and that would be an amazing fun time without having assignments at the back of my head, screaming.

Basically, most of the film scoring majors are that stressed up because our major demands a lot from us (whadid I got myself into, trust God hah!). Now that I know it's normal for us to feel that way. sometimes wanting to just float in air, but the hard work we put in now will eventually pay off. Toil now better than later.

There's plenty of comfort food around. But nothing beats that comfort 'food' from the Bible. The story of Joseph will always be that torchlight for me. So here're some pictures from my Instagram and FB.

We're about to walk on thin ice- it's a pond!

I wanna' be inspired again. So that I can inspire my friends.
I wanna' have that sense of hope again. At least something to cling on.
Got to do things differently d, before the fire inside of me parishes.

Anticipating

It looks like I'm going on a little back packing trip to Connecticut this week, on a very last minute, spontaneous ones. Guess what?
To see my very inspiring pastors from HIS Church !! Ahhhh so excited :DD

Backpacking ALONE !! The Daphne I knew was a scaredy cat. Nobody believes that I'm gonna do thiz. I myself either, but yes, it's going to be a trip.

Though the pricey tickets, but there's the peace in the heart after purchasing them. And my parents are totally fine with it. What actually amazed me is that they actually gave me the freedom to make my own decision, and always refer me to pray before I do this this this and that. Parents, dear mama and papa I love you I reallyy duuu. Little did I know how all these little little things are affecting and teaching me in a way. Thank You, for doing all of these that help me learn what and how to make the decisions in life. The HS is also very kind and helpful when it comes to this :)

Giving Thanks

The word "thankful" can never describe enough really of how thankful, grateful and appreciative I am to the most wonderful One. He who took me by the hand to travel across the great wide oceans, all the way to a cold place called Boston in the United States.

Really? I'm actually living, breathing and surviving here for 6 months alreadyy!
The amount of friends, things and opportunities provided here from God are amazing. It is the quality, less of quantity. He shows me His love day by day through actions, as it is part of the love language I understand. Seeing Him at work- what He has given me, taught me and groomed me is an incredible part/moment of life for me now at this time, that when looking back one day, definitely, will thank Him over and over again. The only thing I'm worried sometimes is the plans that I make, that they might interfere His ones once in a while. And maybe my short-sightedness as well that bothers.

Still feeling fascinated with all the experiences I have here.

Because of the past, I've always dreamt of meeting sincere and warm friends. And here they are :') God saw my tears and answered my prayers! :') Not only that, coming here alone alivee (yes, the exaggeration) without mama and papa and sister and bro is some major life event ever that happened to me, which is the beginning of that something great that I always believe. In due time. My storybook is slowly filling up by the awesome Author. I want to read yours too !

Not feeling the night tonight

Actually, what's the point in scoring fantastic marks in school tests but failed miserably in handling people and situation. So sick of mistakes and repeated mistakes made.

Repeated mistakes made are the worst feeling.

The only presence that I really care about

No matter what, when we know that we are a child of God, His presence is with us.
Even if we don't feel Him, see Him, touch Him or hear Him, His presence is still with us, because we are God's children. (This line I've heard it a gadzillion times, but it's a reminder)
Just like a farmer who plants seeds on his ground. He is so passionate about his crop that he thinks about it day and night. Even at home he talks about it. It doesn't mean that if the seeds don't see him at his farm, then the farmer must have stopped caring about the crops. ABsolutely not.

God is please with His children. Is he please with everything we did? No. But He is please with us.
Nothing can I do to earn His love and/or favour. He already did.

You

When we see You, we find strength to face the day.
In Your presence, all our fears are washed away.

Fall Semester

Everyday is interestingly... busy !
From gear 2 to gear 3.
9am classes all the time.
Workload is also extremely heavy. I signed up for 2 writing classes I don't know why I did that but it is good and necessary.
Barely had time to chill. The only time I can breathe is during cooking time! Lovin' the moment.
This semester is so pack that I know it will all go by so so fast. And like what my lecturer said, we gotta know our sheesh, no more high school bullsheesh attitude and really dig into music. He was talking in his Scoring for Full Orchestra class. I love this guy his way of teaching pushes me to really know my stuffs.

Best thing is when you totally understand what your lecturer is talking.

If not, drop that class ! :PP Like what I did for 2 classes. Thus, the extra writing class which I am so very happy about it. And from a sleepy liberal arts class to something related to Film Scoring class.

AHHHH so happy ! And it all falls into places ! I couldn't believe my eyes because God went ahead of me and work things out in my schedule. Just like my previous semester. He is amazing! Can't describe how happy I am :D

So, keep the focus. Write them down in papers to remind self. Engage with people. Be nice to everyone and even lecturers. They deserve to be treated well. I wonder if they have Teacher's Day or something in the States.

:D

Not having iPhone but I will have one soon I hope has missed out the very moment of city life in Boston for 5 months already ! Ahhh ! Okk, soon soon I'll get that phone if it all fits my budget. :3

This semester is going to be killin' !!! Getttt downnn to business ! :PP

***

Owhh yes, my new room and apartment is super comfortable ! It can fit friends to come over and chill this time :D And my room is cosy enough to rest and study. What can I say, I am overwhelmed to have all these. The Lord provides!

I am not alone (edited)

This is... so not an emo post. Alrighty? :)

-

You know what? As I was packing (started) packing all my stuffs to move out (omgosh moving in Boston is such such such a hassle and it is my first experience ! The Boston Dump will happen soon on the 31 Aug. I can't imagine what the city will look like. Embrrrraaacccceeee myself! ) Yeah, so as I was packing, I realized that I am actually doing things on my own without mom dad, Derrick (oh man, he does eberything I ask him to help me, without complaining, for that I appreciate his patience on me, he is the BEST!) and Esther to help me around. This feels like... Smells like... I'm being independent !!

Everything here is a first time for me.

The streets are flooded with walking students and parents today. The Fall semester is starting soon. Orientation week is next week ! Also, not to forget, U Haul trucks and vans and biggerrrr trucks are almost on every corner of the road. Parking permit is needed to park the trucks.

So, I am doing things without my family. Finally. This is college. This is studying abroad.
And like I wrote, I am not alone. It is the friends that I prayed so hard earlier on, that I would meet, and have a good time with them, whether in school, or the hang outs, to move stuffs and everything else during my college years. More good and genuine friends will come I hope. They are rare, but they are out there. These guys have been a great blessing, like seriouslyy. I want to be a blessing to more people too, because I have been... blessed la ! In so many ways. From furniture buying, to good grades, to having settle down in church, to have awesome friends around (looking forward for the Fall to meet new people !) and discovereing new good food !

Today's weather is colddd brrr ! Sweaters up! :)

***

Besides the physical part- moving and packing and studying, I am also learning how make some decisions.

It's all coming back to me, again. (Edited)

Finally, there is time for me to sort out my iTunes !! After 2 and half years, I decided to do it. Hooreh heheh!

So, I deleted songs that I think I won't listen to. But kept some songs I know I'll be using it for work some time later. Songs that I don't fancy much, I listen to it for educational purpose. Smart eh? ;PP

Ahhhh so excited ! I'm gonna fill up my library ! Very soon, I'll be having ALL my favorite songs PROPERLY in order, in my playlist like I used to when I was in high school (Ohmygoodness, that was a long time ago!) and play them all day long in everything I do.

It's coming back to me again- listening to songs that I like. So weirdd. There was a time I stopped listening because I didn't want to listen. This is... such a weird statement for a musician haha!

But !! This time, my interest grew towards soundtrack music too! And it is a good thing. In fact, it is the best thing ever that is happening!

College life is so awesome! I can't stop mentioning it over and over again.

I have Jesus

One may be doing well spiritually, but have to also learn how to handle her emotions well.
This heart gotta be toughen up missy!
This week... What a week.
But thank You. If it wasn't for the stuffs that happened, I wouldn't know where I stand. It was those difficult, annoying, angry moments I realized that these are my weaknesses I need to work on. Only depending on God and asking Him to change my heart can make me a tougher person in character, sharper in my thinking, and do better the next time.

Some moments I wished that I could have done better and said the better words, but they are the past already. Can't do much. Only looking forward for what's next, and be celik with what I'm doing the next time.

Mama said that I have a choice. I can make my own choice. I have to think of what is best for myself too. Putting others first but neglecting myself is something that I ought to think about it, so that I am not a people pleaser. A girl needs to put up a shield for herself too, especially to protect herself emotionally.

Okay, I'm gonna cry when I think about what mum said to me. She is right. And I value her thoughts because she said I am very much like her, and she knows how to tell me and encourage me.

What to do? When this heart is so soft? Learn lah. And embrace the difficult times well. I have Jesus.

Expectations

Learning jazz is hardd! D:

So much to cover. And when I think about the amount of expectations on me when I graduate, I literally sighed. I would like to focus on writing and composition, but every musician must at least be good at their instruments too and be veryy versatile with all sort of genre for variety. And it's a bonus if you also know how to work with the knobs, cables and sound too. Like, whattt ?? First you write, then you play, next, you produce too! And you must.be.good.cz.you.are.a.berklee.student.full.stop.stop.stop.

Everyone here knows their stuffs man, no kidding. I just started, and I feel so left behind. As a film composer you need to study a lot of different types of music, musical instruments, how they function, AND you need to CONDUCT. Yes, the one holding the baton. Woohoo for me.

To top that up, you must also be a good speaker. In order to make new friends, for work, for connections and for whatever not.

I will do what I can. I'll just... do my best. D:

(But when I look at the long journey that I'm about to travel, and it's under the scorching hot sun, I get discouraged often. Nevertheless, I shouldn't give up so soon. I have to remind myself always.)

So I heard that when I die, when I'm in heaven, I will also bring whatever that I've learnt here on earth to heaven. So, (I tell myself) try to learn jazz, dafernie.

Getting 100 for quiz today is not good enough you know!

I am so stressed out right now.

He is who He is

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

Even a friend from Korea sent me the same verse that God has been placing in my heart for this whole week. Was thrilled when I received his email and know that God is keeping His promise.

Got it

I always thought to myself this : Do the mistakes I've made slow down God's plan for me? Instead of it should be happening at this timing, my fault has caused it to be delayed?

No. Everything happens for a reason. Even my mistakes. God knows already. And He has made plans about it. Everything is in His good and loving hand.

Omgaaah :) Brilliant.

It's Escalating

Ever since I started using my new phone, I seldom blog. I can easily update my statuses on my Twit and FB. So the laziness and slack off of taking time to write. Apologies from my side.

So I read some of my old posts. It looks as if Daphne Wee's life is half hanging. Well I can tell you, that, living the Christian life is always half hanging because I'll never know the full plan of it until what the Lord directs me to do. It's kinda like mysterious. Thing is, even if I'm like half hanging, it's okay to me. I'm worried least, whether will I make it in life or something, what I eat; what I drink; what I wear; who I date; who I'll marry; house I stay and all.

Right now, I wanna prepare myself for Boston- a city full of people, party and play. It's gonna be a great leap for me. A small town girl who moved with her whole family to a just a slightly bigger town when she was 11, had to adapt to the new environment, been brought up loving to stay at home most of the time, having a mom to cook, a sister to hang out with (well now it's getting far apart because she has to work) and a brother to play with (tho he's little, he gives me good advice most of the time- I have a genius brother ! ), and a dad to look after me when I'm sick. And soon, the time will come when I have to leave all these behind, and the past which I'm calling them present now, bittersweet memories and worries behind and jump into the deep blue sea somewhere in the United States. All alone. And that's where a new beginning begins. For awhile, and then I'll be back in no time.

A great leap like that it's like from using a Nokia 2700 to using the latest iPhone.

There's an adventure awaits for me. There's a test for me to sit. There's a time (no, all the time) I MUST rely on God to take care of me- physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

So the prophecy from a prophet shall come upon me.

I'm growing up. And I'm afraid.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6 is fast tight inside my heart.

There's so much more to update in this blog, but they are too private for me to write them down here. That's all for now. It's escalating. 2013 is the year for me, my family and HIS church. It just started.

ICS Tribute to the BeeGees

The awesome feeling of waking up, knowing that you don't have to rush!
I really really had a good time with my Tribute band members. Ohh, the photo above, is set 2 keyboardists. I haven't gotten the rest of the photos ;)

Robin, Vicky, Me and Jon Budi.

I don't remember when we started putting in hours of practice time, sacrificed our sleep, got shelling from the 'upstairs' people, sleeping late after practice and coming back early for practice bla bla, but I was enjoying every moment of it. Being part of this Tribute family is one of the best moments I ever had in Icom! It was the right timing for me to join- the people, the band, the semester workload. This Tribute is my first and the last. I love each and every one in this tribute. Be it the person who packed lunch and dinner for us, the macho guys who carried my Kronos up and down, left right centre, the person who held the walkie-talkie just to make sure everyone is in place, the person who arranged the chairs and the ones who played in the band... EDIBODI! I love them from the bottom of my heart. Everyone has put in so much effort, everybody is a somebody in this production.

The unforgettable moment was when our band leader, Robin, formed a circle with our band members, and he decided to take time to pray. I had the privilege to lead my group into prayer! Totally unexpected, and I am so honoured. We have 9-10 people in our band, and all us were a believer. I also remember there was once, during practice, we actually jammed on all the cool Planet Shakers and Hillsongs songs like Break Free, Take Take Take It All, Time Has Come, Hosanna etc. Coz everyone knows the song and everyone served in church before! My heart goes out to some and I really ask JC to remember them, visit them and show them that You love them very much and it's the devil who condemns them and not You.

To have the gifts and talent in music, to be able to play an instrument so skillfully, is the greatest and highest calling. An army is going to be raised, musicians for Christ to take place, all in time, soon. This I believe! God's favour will always be with those who have the heart for Him. Love Him, time is running out, life here is short.

Okie, this is so sakai hehe, but I'm so proud to be an ARTIST. Felt like a superstar :P
Sorry for the mirror-imaged.

We Are Family

I was a Sunday Christian. But you taught me to be an everyday Christian.
I was abandoned outside. But you welcome me with open arms.
I lost my family. But you extended your love to me, took me in as yours.
I was hungry, and you gave me milk and food.
I couldn't love, but you show me how through all your lives.
I though that all my hopes have gone down the drain, but you taught me the Kingdom of God to be over comers in Christ, to stand up again and fight, and know my identity in Christ.
I lost my passion for music, but you gave me a place to serve the King again.
All that I was given, my heart is deeply grateful for your kindness, love and hospitality.
Every Sunday, I now look forward to be with all of you because
You are my family- HIS Church. And all the Thursday practices too. Every moment when I'm in the presence of this big family, in that place, I feel at home. But one day, we all will move into a bigger home that will last forever and I know it'll be great because we will be together forever.

Family love one another. Everything you did for us, you gave us the best. You did it all out of love for your children.

I will miss you so much when I leave for Boston.

Daddy

God is just so so awesome.

He restores what I've lost. He gives me hope.
He is my strength whenever I feel like giving up.

He corrects me when I do something wrong.
He's slow to anger, but always approaches me with love.

He genuinely shares the secrets of living an abundant life with me.
He teaches and guides me along the path that I'm traveling.

God is my shield. I run to Him when I feel threatened and insecure.
God hears me when I call on His name. He hears the cries of His children.
All who loves Him are His children.

I can't live life on earth without You.
Your favour is always with me.
But often I don't see it and I fall into the enemy's deception.
So many times I've disappointed You and failed You.
But so many times You've come to bring me comfort and tell me that "It's alright, I understand. You're safe with me and I love You very much,"

Your joy is my strength.
I'm safe with my Daddy.
My Daddy knows everything.
He loves me for who I am.

This is for You.
